Reading High junior Shane Roy, an athletic, disruptive defensive end, is now up to three offers, with a fourth potentially coming today.
"Right now, it's Bowling Green, Toledo, Miami (Ohio) called me on the phone. I'm going up there and they said they're going to offer me, and Illinois said they're going to offer me."
Since he terrorized opposing offenses to the tune of 16.5 sacks and 22 tackles for loss, these offers should not come as a surprise, but for Roy, football has always been for fun. Now, it has become a way for him to get an education.
"It is unexpected because since freshman year, I was just playing football because I loved it. I never wanted to get anything out of it, but it's a blessing, and kind of a plus to get to play for four more years."
Roy has been to junior days at Bowling Green and Toledo, and is planning on heading to junior day at Illinios as well as a spring practice in Champaign.
As he gets to these schools and begins to sort through his growing options, there are a couple of factors he is looking at.
"The coaching staff is big. I want to get along with the coaches, I don't want to be just a number. I want to know them on a personal level. I think that's the main one and fit for me. Also, the defense they run. I'd rather be an end than outside linebacker. That's the main thing too."
