Rodney Haddix put an end to his recruitment Tuesday afternoon by announcing that he will be attending Miami University on a basketball scholarship. Haddix becomes the fourth member of the 2007 RedHawks recruiting class, joining Dwight McCombs, Nick Winbush, and JUCO All-American Kenny Hayes.

After making the big announcement at a press conference, Haddix spoke to RedHawk Insider about his commitment, his plans for his time at Miami (including whether or not he plans to play football) and many other things.

When did you formally commit to Miami?
On my visit. I signed my letter (of intent).

How big of a relief is it for recruiting to finally be over with? It’s a big relief. It’s so much stress finally off my shoulders. Before you made the decision, what were you thinking in your head?
I didn’t know what to think. I didn’t know anything about the school or the campus, so I had no idea what to think.

Obviously Miami was the last visit you took. Why was that the best one?
It had a great campus, great everything. I saw that everything about the school is right for me.

What do you think is your best attribute on the basketball court? How will you help Miami the most?
I would say my patience on the court, my rebounding, things like that.

Miami is fairly deep with guards right now. Do you think you can make an immediate impact?
Yes I do. I think will have an immediate impact by coming in getting good minutes when I’m needed. I think I’m an all around player, so I can help out anywhere, even if it’s rebounding or guarding someone.

What do you plan to do over the summer to help you prepare for your Freshman year?
I’m going to summer school in July, but I’ll be playing some games, and doing some conditioning on my own to get myself prepared.

Finally, you were also a big time football recruit and Miami has a very deep football tradition. Is there any chance of playing football for the RedHawks?
I’ve given it a thought. But it’s probably out of the question right now because I will try to get my feet wet with basketball. Maybe it is something I will consider down the road once I get more experience.
