RedHawk Insider received a call from Indiana power forward Julian Mavunga at the worst of times Sunday night – as our plane was taxing and getting ready to take off from New York City to Cincinnati. Despite our limited time to talk Mavunga revealed that he has a new date for his decision, and updated us as to where he stands on his decision.
The call came after Mavunga got home from his visit to Indiana State. Mavunga was much more tight-lipped about this visit than his trip last weekend to Miami, but nonetheless, it was clear he enjoyed himself.
“They showed me I’m very wanted,” said Mavunga. “They showed me I was an essential part of the rebuilding process.”
Originally Mavunga had planned on making the big decision, which he previously announced is down to Miami and Indiana State, after coming back from ISU. However now he has a new plan.
“Tuesday I will make my decision,” said Mavunga. “On Tuesday I’m going to pick up the phone, call a coach and say ‘I’m going there.’”
As for which coach is going to get that call, Mavunga is playing it coy. Even if he does have a favorite, he isn’t letting on.
“I’ll let you know on Tuesday. I’m going to keep people guessing.”
