The news is bad for the Miami RedHawks entering the first round of the inaugural College Basketball Invitational. Starting forward, and the team’s leading scorer, Michael Bramos will be out for the entire tournament with a hand injury he sustained in the MAC tournament last week.

According to a team source, Bramos went for an MRI yesterday and damage was found to a ligament in his thumb. He is scheduled to have surgery in the coming days that will leave him in a cast for 6-8 weeks, and will need an additional 2-3 months for rehabilitation after that.

Bramos averaged 16.3 points per game despite an injury-plagued junior season at Miami. He twice spent time shelved with a sprained ankle before suffering this injury.

He is not traveling with the team to first round opponent, Tulsa.
