Quinten Rollins made the call the Miami staff earlier today. The 6’1”, 175 pound senior-to-be point guard told them he was ready to be a RedHawk.
A few days ago, Rollins said he will wait to decide at the end of the summer. However, he decided to push that up and commit now.
Rollins said he had a great time on campus at Miami’s Elite Camp and said the RedHawks have a “great coaching staff.” He was ready to get the decision out of the way. Rollins added, “I feel I made the right decision with my recruitment.”
The standout from Wilmington (OH) High School uses his strength (bench 250, squat 350) and quickness to get to the bucket. He also has strong ballhandling skills.
Rollins had told RedHawk Insider that his game resembles Ty Lawson from North Carolina in that he is not a great shooter but is strong and makes his teammates better.
Rollins also had interest from Wright State, Duquesne, Central Michigan, Furman, Eastern Kentucky, Cleveland State, Davidson, Ball State, Western Carolina, and Penn State.
Last January, Rollins said Miami stood out among the others. “The coaches are always following me,” said Rollins, “Always at my games and want me to come up there. Miami has really good coaches. I like Coach Pedon and Coach Henderson.”
At Miami “Q” hopes to be able to contribute in any way he can.
Rollins is the second commit today for the RedHawks. The other being guard/forward combo Josh Sewell of Louisville Trinity High School. Rollins said of Sewell, “He is a great player. Real strong. He can create on his own shot. I will enjoy playing with him.
Like Sewell, Rollins plans to major in business with a marketing degree.
